Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Dec. 2 for a very special and very swinging event when Grammy© Award winning trumpeter Brian Lynch brings his “Unsung Heroes” project to Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola with very special guests Vincent Herring (alto sax) and Ralph Moore (tenor sax). The combination of this truly stellar front line with the mastery of Rob Schneiderman (piano), Peter Washington (bass), and Pete Van Nostrand (drums), will make the classic sound of the Unsung Heroes band soar, and this gig one not to be missed!
The ties between the members of this band run deep. Lynch and Moore’s playing days go back to the very beginnings of each of their illustrious careers, having played together in Horace Silver’s Quintet for three years together in the 1980s and recorded together on each of their debut recordings as leader. Herring’s ties with Lynch go back almost as far, and their playing time together has blossomed in the last 10 years; Vincent’s work on the Unsung Heroes recordings was crucial to the success of the 5 star Downbeat rated project. Ralph and Vincent also share the legacy of having been integral parts of the sound of two of our dearest departed icons, Cedar Walton and Freddie Hubbard. Pianist Schneiderman and automatic first call bassist Washington also have long standing ties with the three horns; they’ve played on their recordings and bandstands and vice versa for a quarter century on now.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness true bandstand magic as these master musicians and old friends set to swinging!
